Q: What is an official translator and an authorised translation?
  A: Official translator ("auktoriserad translator", in Swedish) is a title protected by law and reserved for translators with state certification. Its aim is to produce highly qualified and reliable professionals that are prepared to meet society needs. Since translated documents often are as binding as originals, the translation must be carried out in those cases by an official translator. Q: How long will my translation take?
  A: It depends completely on the size of the document, and more specifically, on the number of words in the original. Vox Hispanica translates normally at a rate of about 1000 words per day, slightly less if layout has been requested. In any case, when you place your order Vox Hispanica will always agree with you on a date of delivery.

Q: How do I send my translation?
  A: The easiest and quickest method to send a translation is via Internet, either through this website or by attaching the file to an e-mail. Otherwise, you can always send it via fax or ordinary mail, in paper, diskette, Zip Omega 100 MB or CD-ROM.

Q: What's the maximum size for the files that I can attach to the inquiry form?
  A: Maximum size for the attached files is 30 Mb and maximum upload time is 1 hour.

Q: Is it possible to know how much my translation will cost?
  A: To calculate the final cost of a normal translation you just have to multiply the number of words by the applicable rate (See section Rates). Shipping, office materials, customer support and services on-line are completely free.

Q: In which file format will I receive my translation?
  A: Authorised translations are always delivered on paper, with the corresponding stamp(s). Conventional company translations, if nothing else is specified when placing the order, will be sent as a normal Word 97 file (.doc) in PC. If you prefer another type of file, let me know and I will send it to you.

Q: I have a really urgent translation. Can you help me?
  A: Probably yes. In the case of time constraints, if the translator has to work at a much higher pace than the normal one, an express supplement will be added as specified in the section Rates. If the supplement is to be applied, you'll always be informed while ordering.

Q: How are you going to send my translation?
  A: Authorised translations for individuals are normally send by ordinary post, as a COD (cash on delivery). Authorised translations for companies will be dispatched by ordinary post, and conventional ones, if nothing else is specified, will be sent via Internet, in a file attached to an e-mail. If for some reason you would also like to receive the printed version or the file in a diskette, Vox Hispanica will send this to you by ordinary mail, free of charge. When files are large, Vox Hispanica can send them in Zip Omega (100 MB) or CD-ROM, conventional or rewritable (CD-R or CD-RW), also for free.

Q: I have a text but only on paper, no file. How much will I pay for my translation?
  A: When you don't know the number of words in the original, the calculation is made with the translated version as a base. When the translation is from Swedish or English you calculate the number of words by subtracting 15% from the English text. From French to English the same number of words applies.

Q: I'd like to translate my website into English. Do you do this kind of job?
  A: Yes, Vox Hispanica offers translation plus DTP in the updated versions of the most common graphic design software: Quark Xpress, PageMaker, FrameMaker, etc.

Q: How can I place an order?
  A: There are two ways: the traditional one (telephone, e-mail or fax) and through an Inquiry on-line. Vox Hispanica offers 10 % of discount on all orders initiated with an inquiry on-line.

Q: How is the payment to be made?
  A: Authorised translations for private persons are paid through COD (cash on delivery), while picking them up in the post office. The payment of company assignments shall be effective through postal order (inside Sweden) or bank transfer (international), in full and within 30 days after the delivery of the translation.

Q: Why do you have two types of rates, A and B?
  A: Due to the varying billing practices in different countries. In Sweden, for example, translation assignments are billed per word in the original text, while in Spain you are usually charged per word in the translated version. Vox Hispanica offers its customers, therefore, the possibility to choose the desired billing system when placing their orders.

 

Q: Why is Vox Hispanica cheaper than other translation agencies that I've been checking out?
  A: For the simple reason that Vox Hispanica is not an agency, but a private company specialised in English that offers its services directly, that is, VH doesn't outsource, act as intermediary or take commission on anything.
